My Fave Dairy Free Ice Cream Brands

Hi everyone,

Welcome to my first blog post on my new website!!

I’m so excited to start this new chapter sharing my dairy free dessert and sweets journey with all of you. I’m happy to finally share with you guys the new look of the website, what do you guys think? Please feel free to comment below as I always love to hear from my readers.

I hope that you guys love it as much as I do after putting in many months of work into it as I’m so happy how it turned out.

How has everyone been enjoying their summer so far?? With August the last official month of summer even though in September it still feels like summer because in Toronto, we still get some hot weather to enjoy. While working on the website, I still took some time to enjoy the sunny and hot days in Toronto safely by going to the beaches, stopping by some dairy free bakeshops for sweet treats and mainly spending time with my family going out to patio dining and bbqs at home.

1st Post of my 3 Part End of Summer Series

To celebrate the launch of my new website, I will be doing a 3 Posts End of Summer Series where I share my fave frozen dessert products and which shops to check out to cool down with some sweet frozen dessert during these humid last summer days.

One of my fave frozen desserts to stay cool and refreshed during these humid summer days is dairy free ice cream. Who doesn’t love ice cream right? For those like me who are looking for dairy free ice cream, there are plenty of options for dairy free ice cream so don’t worry if you feel overwhelmed with all these different brands to choose from. That’s why I’m here to help you by giving you 2 delicious brands to try that I love.

I’m excited to share my 2 fave brands of dairy free ice creams are So Delicious and Bloomer’s.

1 – So Delicious

One of the brands I’m recommending is my all time fave dairy free ice cream brand, So Delicious. I discovered So Delicious dairy free ice cream a few years ago and since then it is my go to ice cream pints to buy at my local grocery stores because it is easy to find to buy and because it is soooo good and tastes just like real ice cream with dairy in it, but this one is dairy free.

I love “So Delicious” brand concept of “a brand that strives to do what’s good for people and the planet.” It shows that they not only care about the organic ingredients they use in their products, but also the environment.

“Every creamy spoonful is dairy-free, Non-GMO Project Verified and Certified Vegan. To share or not to share, that is so the question”

So Delicious Official Website

What I love about So Delicious brand is that they offer a variety of types for milk alternatives as their frozen dessert base that includes Almond, Cashew, Coconut, Oat and Soy. With each different frozen dessert base, they then offer a variety of flavours, which I love that because everyone likes different flavours so it’s perfect to tailor to each individual taste. So Delicious every year comes out with new and creative flavours, which keeps customers interested and I love discovering new flavours from them.

For example, this year they released their Oat Milk based frozen dessert with 2 flavours, which are Oatmeal Cookie and Peanut Butter & Raspberry. I haven’t tried it yet but from what I heard lots of people been loving their Oat Milk based frozen desserts.

I tried a few different ice cream base from them and I love the cashew base because it’s so creamy and it tastes like real ice cream that I can hardly tell the difference. My 2 fave flavours from their cashew base ice cream are Simply Vanilla (classic) and Peach Maple Pecan. I love the Peach Maple Pecan flavour as I love peach flavour desserts and it has a summer taste to it along with the pecan bites in it. I’m sad that the Peach Maple Pecan pints are not available in Toronto grocery stores anymore as I haven’t seen it in a long time. I been loving their classic, Simply Vanilla flavour as it always pairs nicely with other flavours and I can add my own summer fruity topping to it as well.

So Delicious, is the perfect choice for dairy free ice cream (frozen dessert) that offers a great variety of flavours to choose from when you are looking to cool down during these hot & humid summer days at home.

Check out your local grocery store like Loblaws in the photo above where I found So Delicious pints section

To look for your own So Delicious dairy free ice cream pint, please check your local grocery stores on their website where to get your own pint to enjoy at home or at the beach or at the park where ever you go, So Delicious will satisfy your sweet cravings.

2 – Bloomer’s

Bloomer’s Bayview Location

Bloomer’s is absolutely my fave local Toronto vegan bakery that I always go to and I simply love Bloomer’s!! It is obvious shown on my Instagram posts lol. They are a small family bakery that is best known for their delicious and fluffy soft vegan donuts and also offering delicious baked goods like cookies, cupcakes, loaves, bagels and more. They make their delicious donuts & baked goods fresh everyday using certified organic and GMO-free products. They are 100% vegan offering some gluten-free and soy free baked goods. They strive to provide alternatives for people with allergies and sensitivities.

One of my fave summer donut flavour – Strawberry Shortcake

So you all probably wondering why I’m mentioning Bloomer’s bakery when I’m talking about ice cream? Well…because Bloomer’s now makes their own homemade & fresh dairy free ice cream. I was so excited of course!! I couldn’t wait to pick up my own pint of dairy free ice cream from them. It is made with oat milk based and they offer a variety of yummy flavours such as birthday cake, chocolate hazelnut, cookies & cream, strawberry, French vanilla, wild blueberry and pistachio. They have 2 sizes of pints – large and half size.

Of course I picked up the Strawberry large pint and absolutely loved it right away. I’m surprised that my pint lasted as long as it did lol 😂 it’s made from fresh strawberries as you can taste how fresh it is. I love that Bloomer’s use fresh ingredients. It was creamy and smooth, the perfect sweet and refreshing dairy free ice cream I ever tasted. I’m definitely picking up another pint very soon! LOL!!

What makes Bloomer’s one of my fave local Toronto vegan bakery so special to me is not just for their delicious and dairy free baked goods, but for their friendly and amazing customer service. Since the beginning, I felt welcomed to any one of their locations by their staffs and during the pandemic, received delivery safely for vegan donuts to my house and they are always so nice and accommodating for donut flavour requests & custom orders too. That’s why I love Bloomer’s and I love supporting my local bakeshop in T.O.

If you are living in Toronto or within the GTA where Bloomer’s can delivery or if you can drop by for takeout, it is definitely worth the trip to pick up one of their fresh and delicious dairy free ice cream pints and you can also stop by to try their famous and fresh donuts and baked goodies too!! I will be posting again more about Bloomer’s on a different post.

They have 3 locations in the GTA (Queen St. W, Bloor St. W and Bayview Village) open daily for walk-ins, takeout and Doordash delivery and you can pre-order online for a GTA delivery on their website.

I love how accessible Bloomer’s bakery is to get your sweet & delicious goodies especially during these difficult times to make it safe for us to still enjoy our sweet treats. Ever since, they opened their Bayview Village location I stop by at least once a week because so excited that they are finally uptown in North York in my area, which is a huge plus for me…😊

When will you stop by Bloomer’s for their sweet and yummy dairy free ice cream pints?? Or will you be ordering delivery instead? Bloomer’s has the perfect combination of dairy free ice cream and donuts or baked goods to satisfy your sweet cravings this summer or any season (they have a flavour for every season).
