Happy National Ice Cream Month and the Official Summer of 2025!! It is also National Ice Cream Day on Sunday, July 20, 2025. 🍦🍨
I’m finally back just in time for the sweetest frozen dessert month as who doesn’t love ice cream or does gelato count too? 😋 For those like me with dairy allergy, I’m happy to have my fave and go to vegan gelato shops as I prefer gelato over ice cream (some examples on my blog) for refreshing fruity sorbets and vegan ice cream options to enjoy during these hot and humid Toronto summer months. What is your fave summer dessert to cool down with??
Quick Update
It’s been awhile since my last post as it’s been another busy first half of 2025 year with my winter temporary Administrative job that finished in early May and then my Florida vacation was the end of May for almost 2 weeks. I enjoyed my hot, humid and sunny Florida vacay back in Tampa, Florida and this year I checked out Siesta Key area for the first time and loved their white sandy beaches and clear blue water. I also stayed a few days back in my fave tropical paradise, St. Pete and Treasure Island as well. Already miss my beach and pool days in Florida.
It was a bit stressful in the beginning of my vacation with my delayed luggage for almost a week but still managed to enjoyed my 2nd half of my trip. Since I been back, been busy catching up on things since I was gone for so long lots to do from unpacking, laundry and cleaning & etc.
I’m looking for my next Administrative work opportunity now while I enjoy this very humid and hot summer in T.O. As I have one more trip this year next month in August to Vegas as I usually don’t go to Vegas in the summer but only because of for my fave band is having a special show only for this summer that’s why I’m going as it’s usually very hot in Vegas in August so I hope I survive the desert heat but looking forward to going back as I haven’t been in a few years. Can’t wait to enjoy more pool days in Vegas, lots of delicious foods, shopping and of course a bit of casino lol. Will share my Vegas travel adventures with you on my IG stories of course!
What are you doing this summer? If you love summer like me, there’s so much to enjoy in the city, outside the city or around Ontario or where ever you love to go during the summer I say if you can handle the heat, enjoy being outside with nature before it gets cold and snow is back again. Hope everyone is having a great summer as only 1 more month of full summer to go!! ☀️🏖️
Mizzica Gelateria & Café
I’m excited to finally share one of my new fave gelato dessert café that I discovered is Mizzica Gelateria & Café. It is founded by owners Paolo Di Lallo and Denise Pisani, a husband and wife with Italian background in 2020 opened their 1st location at Queen St. West and their mutual love and passion for the creamy cold treat that is popular in Italy – gelato. This is where the name of their gelato shop came from Mizzica inspired from where they both were born and raised where Denise was from the island of Sicily, and Paolo, from the picturesque region of Abruzzo. Inspired by the blue and white colours of the Mediterranean Sea, Mizzica transports you directly to one of Italy’s seaside coasts.
They wanted to bring some of Italy to Canada and that’s what they did with this amazing, delicious and Italian inspired gelato cafe to Toronto and why fly to Italy when there’s a little slice of Italy heaven in Toronto.
The reason why I’m recommending and fell in love with Mizzica Gelateria & Café is because they offer diary free and vegan gelato options and not just a few selected vegan flavours, but they offer ranging from 5-8 flavours per day, which is rare as I been to many gelato places and not all have that wide of a variety of flavours, which is why I’m so excited about trying different flavours with each visit. I also love that they also make fresh in-house gelato everyday with the finest quality ingredients while using also local fresh ingredients and using authentic traditional Italian recipes that they learned and spent years perfecting their craft under the guidance of renowned gelato masters.
With their growing gelato shop in Toronto at Queen St. West, they opened a 2nd location at Yonge and Eglinton in June 2024 to serve more of their customers mid-town. I always go and love the Yonge and Eglinton area and it was the perfect spot for me to check them out. I already been there many times for the best and delicious vegan gelato that’s how you know how much I already love this Italy inspired authentic gelato café. They have amazing and friendly staff too, I love stepping in their gelato café and being welcomed with smiling faces and eager to help you if you can’t decide on a flavour (they also offer 2 samples), I haven’t been to Italy but this gelato café makes you feel like you are in part of Italy without actually being there just the atmosphere itself.

The first time I went there in 2024, I got the vegan Strawberry and Mango gelato flavours with a cute waffle cone cookie on top love that and it was creamy and delicious. You can tell that their gelato are made fresh and with the real top quality ingredients as I can taste the sweet Strawberry fruit in it. My Strawberry and Mango was the perfect tropical and summer vibes as if I was in Italy then…😊
My second visit there I got the vegan Peach and Raspberry gelato flavours topped with a waffle cookie this time. If you guys didn’t know, I love all peach flavour desserts and I had to try it at Mizzica Gelateria & Café and it did not disappoint, it was the white sweet peach taste and I absolutely loved it and pairing it with the tart and yet sweet creamy Raspberry was the perfect combination. Some other vegan flavours that they have include: Lemon, Dark Chocolate, Melon, Watermelon, Kiwi, Mixed Berries and etc. They rotate their vegan and regular gelato flavours depending on the season as they use fresh ingredients. Please check their Instagram account (their info is at the bottom of my blog) on their IG stories as they update everyday which flavour they have that day.
I finally got to try this year in 2025, their Dragonfruit Kiwi sorbet flavour as I kept missing it last year so it was definitely worth the wait. I love dragonfruit flavour desserts and this one did not disappoint. It was a mix of tangy and sweet paired with another tangy flavour – Raspberry I got with it, one of my fave flavours from Mizzica is Dragonfruit Kiwi! I highly recommend this one and Raspberry and Peach. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to Mizzica as I love them that much!!
The interior for the Yonge and Eglinton location is simply beautiful, elegant and a reflection and inspiration of Italy with the blue and white colours. I love the interior lighting fixets there too. It is actually a spacious gelato shop café compared to others as they have quite a number of tables to sit and a huge booth at the back, which I managed to sit during my 2nd visit when it was less busy. Yes they usually are quite busy if you go during their busy times and I been lucky twice I was there when it was less busy, but it’s definitely worth the wait as they have the best vegan gelato. You won’t be disappointed!!
They also offer several classic Italian desserts available including Cannoli, Cheesecake, Mango Panna Cotta, and Tiramisu. As well they have a full cafe menu with espresso, americano, macchiato, cafe latte and affogato — an espresso with a scoop of gelato. They have two types of coffee, Lavazza or Moak Sicilian Coffee. They are always coming up with new and exciting desserts and gelato flavours to their menu.
The excitement and hype that everyone has been talking about Mizzica Gelateria & Café does live up to it and my expectations for the best vegan and dairy free gelato treat.
This is the perfect month to celebrate National Ice Cream Month to enjoy the best vegan and dairy free gelato at Mizzica Gelateria & Café as their authentic Italian inspired gelato is the perfect sweet dessert treat to satisfy your sweet cravings not just for the summer but I love my sorbet and gelato any season even Spring, Fall and Winter. If you haven’t check them out yet, I highly recommend you do, you don’t want to miss out this amazing and delicious frozen creamy treat. Let me know which is your fave flavour?? 😋🍑🍓🥭🥝
