My Fave Vegan Ice Cream Shop in Florida, Plant Love Ice Cream

Hey everyone,

It’s officially Fall season and how is it October already? 🫣🍁🍂 September flew by so quickly with our warm days in T.O. I’m still not ready to let go of summer just yet even though I love Fall. Where did the summer go? Hope everyone had a great & amazing sun filled summer!!

So sorry everyone for not posting my summer post as I been so busy working at my temporary Admin job this summer and it’s been extended this job so I’m still currently working with this software company. It’s been an exciting and good learning experience with great people & good work environment.

While I been busy working at my temp job and on top of it all, I had my New York trip the beginning of August and unfortunately I gotten really sick & my first time being so sick in many years just before my trip too. Unfortunately, I couldn’t enjoy New York as much as I wanted to while I was there being sick and the extremely hot & humid weather in New York didn’t help when I’m sick there. I made the best of the situation in New York that I could under the circumstances of being sick and didn’t get to see all the places I wanted to but only sightseeing a few places near my hotel and shopped. I did enjoy a few delicious foods despite being sick no dairy free baked goods but went to the best vegan restaurant in Jersey City. Will be sharing my New York trip on my Instagram account so stay tuned for that. I been busy recovering from my sickness that lasted 4 weeks and working at the same time in August and September.

Thank you everyone for being patient with me.

Summer may be over, but the sunshine and warm days are still here lingering in the Fall and especially in Florida. Cold sweet desserts are perfect all year round and I had to share this local ice cream shop with you all. While I was on vacation in beautiful St. Petersburg, Florida (Tampa Bay area) back in May as you guys know, I discovered the best and delicious vegan and plant based ice cream shop called: Plant Love Ice Cream in downtown St. Pete. If you don’t live in St. Pete or one of my Canadian readers, this is definitely worth the trip to visit St. Pete for the best vegan ice cream ever while at the same time enjoying the sunny and warm weather by the beaches is the bonus.

**On a side note, St. Pete & Tampa has lots of dairy free & vegan options for desserts and savoury foods for those who are looking for allergy friendly vacation spots after doing my research and being there. Yes of course I will be sharing more dessert spots in my fave new tropical island / city paradise.

This local vegan ice cream shop was founded in 2018 by a mother and son who wanted to create a vegan alternative to ice cream that was creamy and of course tasted delicious. Back then, there wasn’t that many options for alternative dairy free ice cream and I’m excited that St. Petersburg has now grown with more options for vegan and dairy free desserts and foods for allergy friendly people like myself who can’t have dairy. They officially opened their first storefront in Spring of 2019.

Their motto and theme were “Infused with art, ice cream, love, and an amazing community”. I love how this local vegan ice cream shop goal is to spread love and happiness throughout the Tampa Bay area “one scoop at a time”.

I was excited to check out their downtown St. Pete location. It’s in the same area as the St. Pete Pier. After I checked out the St. Pete Pier, I went to visit Plant Love Ice Cream shop. It was a cozy with a mix of retro and colourful feel of a dessert shop. The owner was very friendly and helpful on explaining about the options of flavours. They hand-crafted their ice cream fresh daily with local & simple ingredients. I love that they have a variety of unique flavours that they offer and seasonal flavours as well. They rotate their flavours daily. For the daily flavours that day, I suggest you check their Instagram account as they post on their IG stories what flavours for that day.

I ended up getting 2 flavours – the seasonal flavour of Pineapple Upside Down Cake and Birthday cake. Their ice cream base is made from Organic coconut milk. Usually I’m not too fond of coconut milk based ice creams, but this one doesn’t even taste like coconut milk based more of a creamy soy texture to me. I love the creamy and smooth texture of this dairy free ice cream. I simply loved the bright and tropical flavour of the Pineapple Upside Down Cake flavour it was my fave one as I used to love to eat Pineapple Upside Down cakes when I was younger. Already missing their sweet and delicious dairy free ice cream!!

I’m excited to find out that they opened a 2nd location in the Gulfport area of St. Petersburg. I’m looking forward to checking out that location next time I’m back in St. Petes next year. I will definitely update you guys here with new photos of their 2nd location as already saw photos and it looks so cozy and filled with tropical vibes. If you live near Gulfport area, please check out their tropical and bright new ice cream shop. If you did stop by their 2nd location, let me know how it is below in the comments as I love to hear your opinion about it.

I highly recommend, Plant Love Ice Cream shop dairy free ice cream if you live or visit in the St. Petersburg, Florida area as it’s definitely worth the trip out to enjoy the best vegan and dairy free ice cream in Florida. I already can’t wait for my return next year to enjoy their sweet and unique flavours of ice cream!! Definitely a must go dessert spot!!
